What is the process of of working with a Sport Specialist?

We at TSS have hand-selected specialists for this site so you can feel confident you are getting the best advice for your athletic needs. First you can browse the SSpecialis tnetwork for experts in your sport, age group or skill level. Visit their Specialist profile to learn more about their expertise, background and approach before booking a 1:1 video consultation. You'll create a free account, then you'll be prompted to complete a pre-call questionnaire and then be reminded of your appointment via email. Visit our 'How it Works' page for all the details.

What is the Sport Specialist?

TSS connects anyone, anywhere with specialists in your sport via 1:1 video consultations. TSS was created so you could get all your sports questions answered by people you know and trust, whether you're an athlete yourself or the parent of an athlete. TSS provides accessibility to the top specialists in your sport to provide 'guidance, personalized advice and support' allow you to gain the knowledge you need to move forward with your athletic pursuits.

How do I get paid from the Sport Specialist?

After completing your onboarding questionnaire, establishing your rates and signing the contract you will be paid through direct deposit. You will be asked to provide your bank account information and W9 tax form upon sign up. Payments are issued bi-weekly.

How do I update my rates?

We have a minimum base rate of $150 for a 25-minute call. If you need to make an update to your prices, please contact us directly. We can update your contract and the rates displayed on your profile and in your meeting links.

How do I update my Specialist Profile?

We want to provide the most accurate and concise information to our clients, so in order to make updates to your Specialist profile, please email us the changes you'd like to make to info@thesportspecialist.com so we can approve the profile request.

What happens if I am late?

If you join the Zoom call 5 minutes late, we expect you to stay 5 minutes late to fulfill your 25 or 50-minute time commitment. Be sure to ask the client about their time restrictions if this is the case.

What happens if I miss an appointment?

Because communication is at the core of what we do, it is key that you follow up with the client immediately. If you miss 3 calls your specialist account will be suspended. We've drafted a few emails as a point of reference for you to use and they're included in the Specialist Onboarding Kit.

What is something goes wrong with my technology or device?

These things happen– if you’re having difficulty with your device or technology start by ending, and starting the ZOOM call again or powering of your device for a few minutes. Be sure that all your accessibility settings are properly ‘allowed’ for both Calendly, ZOOM Video and Audio in your web browser or in your system preferences.

How do I choose a Specialist?

The specialists are divided into catergories and sport with their BIO outlining their specialty with any emphasis they might have. You can also go to the search bar and filter by subject to narrow down your search. We have created a space with a limited number of specialists per category so it doesn't feel overwhelming. If you're still not sure hit the Chat button and we can help!

Will I be able to ask follow up questions to the Specialist?

We encourage you to gather a list of questions and topics you wish to cover prior to your consultation so that you can maximize your time and get all the answers you need. Your Expert’s contact info will not be shared before, during or after the consultation, so if you have any follow up questions or run out of time, we encourage you to book another consultation!

Will I be able to talk about my needs beforehand with a specialist?

There is a questionnaire you can fill out with the option to add a photo or video. The Specialist will see this ahead of time but you will not have direct contact with your Specialist before the call.

What is your cancellation or re-schedule policy?

All Consultations that require to be rescheduled or cancelled must be done so with a minimum of 48 hours notice for future credit, excluding weekends (Monday Appointments will require notice by Friday at the latest) by emailing info@thesportspecialist.com and title Cancel or Reschedule. We know life happens but also being mindful of our specialists time, any cancellation or reschedule under 24 hours will have a $50 penalty and again will only have future credit as an option. For a full refund cancellations must occur 7 days prior to your booking.

Who is The Sport Specialist for?

Adult Athletes, Teen Athletes, Parents of Athletes, 1:1 OR Team Calls. Anyone who moves their bodies and has questions they need help with. What should I be eating, how can I stay healthy, should my teen be playing all year, how can I help myself or my teen feel better, or get better. We are a group of specialists with both school and lived experience ready to pass on our knowledge to help you thrive in your own way with what works for you.

Am I charged immediately after I book?

Yes. You will be charged upon booking. Please see Cancellations and Reschedules for guidelines if needed.

Can I add guests to my meeting?

Yes! We love a 1:1 and a group meeting. That said if you book a consultation as a group (big or small) please put that in your questionnaire so the Specialist can prepare ahead of time.

What if the Specialist cancels or re-schedules on me?

If a Specialist needs to re-schedule with less than 12 hours notice you will receive a $50 credit. If for some reason there is a full cancellation you can re-book with another specialist. And if there are no other specialists you'd like to work with, you will receive a full refund.

What device should I use?

All Bookings are done through zoom. You can download the app on your phone or go to the website on your computer.

What is the onboarding process like?

Once you find the specialist you would like to talk to, go into their schedule and make a time to meet via 1:1 zoom call. Each Specialist makes their own schedule and price for the their time. You can pick a 25 minute or 50 minute consultation. Once you have selected a time and entered your information you will be taken to a check out page. Upon completing the checkout you will get a confirmation for the time and specialist you will be meeting with… If you have more questions about meeting your specialist please go to the How it works page.
